The Landing Page

Through my research, I've discovered that the essential elements of a good landing page include:

  • Tell people where they are.  A website about writing!
  • Tell them why they should stay.  Because you love writing and you will learn a lot!
  • Have bulleted lists.  Check.
  • Have a call to action: Go read the writing advice on the blog.
  • Don't overwhelm your visitor with a busy site.
  • Keep it short.  Okay.  I'm done.
  • Please see the next column.

What I Really Wanted to Say

In November 2011 I started "Skill A Day (Focused practice to increase your writing adroitness)."  The link to the original thread is right here, if you want to read it.  I found that it was difficult to focus on one aspect of writing every day.  So now I'm trying it with one skill a week.  In the spirit of Write1Sub1, I felt that the best way to do this would be with a new short story for every new skill learned.

To make this website even more valuable to writers, I've also added a list of writing contests, my favorite writing quotes, and a forum to discuss what you've been having problems with, the successes that you've had, or just for the company.

I really want this website to help people, so please Contact Me with any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions.
